Sabine reaches 3rd round of Australian Open

Sabine Lisicki beat Stephanie Voegele 6-2 4-6 6-4 and Shahar Peer 6-1 6-2 in her first two rounds of the Australian Open 2012. In the first round against the swiss number one Voegele it was very windy what caused the ball often not to fly as intended, and made the service game for both players very hard. But Sabine kept fighting and finally won in three sets. Today against Peer, she could play her services as usually, and started with a 3-0 lead. She didn't give the israelian player a chance to adjust to the game but forced her game onto her opponent to finish the match in less then an hour. Sabines next opponent will be either Svetlana Kuznetsova or Sloane Stephens.

pre-Christmas time

Hi everybody. As some of you might know I´ve been on the Bahamas to help Mark Knowles with his charity event to raise money for children. It has been a very good couple of days. We raised more money than ever before at that event so everybody was happy. I´m glad to be in a position to help and put a smile on the kids face.

Now I´m back in Florida. It is surprisingly cold here! I had a little cold but I´m good again and back on the court! I had a very good session with Nick yesterday. We´re getting my game ready for next year. We also did a fun thing today by taking the gym stuff outside and simply do my gym workout outdoors It was a good change. By doing things like that it never gets boring!

I will be going back to Germany to spend Christmas there. I´ve also been asked to do a drawing at the Handball game just before a match of “our” team- “The Füchse” from Berlin. The stadium is suppose to be sold out so I think it will be great and I hope to make a good drawing

Hope everybody is doing great and enjoying the pre-Christmas time!

Sabine

Last Weekend

Hi everybody, I had another tough week of training in Florida. I´m feeling fitter from week to week. On friday my manager Olivier and his wife Karen had a wedding party here in Sarasota. Lots of fellow players were here (Filip Krajinovic, Mario Ancic, Yuki Bhambri, Taylor Dent, Jordan Cox, Kei Nishikori) to celebrate. It was a great weekend but tomorrow it´s back to work :) Hope everybody had a good weekend!

Sabine

Offseason

Hi everybody, my Team and I have decided that I´ll practice the next few weeks. During the last few tournaments we saw what we need to work on and want to improve those aspects of my game! We´ve been working a lot on my fitness the past two weeks at the Olympic Training Center in Berlin. It´s been fun but hard as well. I did a test on the treadmill to see how I´m doing since I came back from my injury. I was happy to see that I´ve improved!

Last weekend I went to support my friend Britta Steffen at her first World Cup in a long time. It was a tough first competition for her coming in 4th and 6th place. Both of us are working hard to be back at our “old” form as quickly as possible though! Yesterday I went to the ice hockey game of the “Eisbären Berlin”. It was once again heaps of fun and great to relax a bit. Towards the end it was everything else but relaxing though…the game got so exciting that the penalty shooting had to decide who the winner of the night is. It was a nice evening after a hard week of training. Talk to you soon.

Sabine

After the US Open

Dear Fans, the 2weeks in New York put me another big step forward. I won my first match since my comeback and in the second round of the Us Open I lost to Vera Zvonareva who is playing in the finals now. I had my chances in the second set where I really played well but unfortunately I couldn't convert them. I left New York with a smile on my face and a lot more confidence in the bag then before! I was in Florida for a couple of days and yesterday we flew to Quebec City where I'm playing my next tournament! I'm looking forward to another week and another opportunity for me! Thanks for all your support in New York!

Sabine

No Portoroz tournament!

I wanted to fly to Portoroz on Friday to play my first tournament in months . Prior to that I went to see my doctor to make a last check. Then he said that my ankle isn´t strong enough yet to play a tournament without taking any risks.

I´m terribly disappointed because I was really looking forward to playing on the tour again. Everything was booked, my bags were packed and then you get to hear this. It´s another bump in the road and I have to stay strong and keep working hard to improve my stability in the ankle so that I can play soon on the tour with out risks!
