Sabine Lisicki won yesterday against Svetlana Kuznetsova 2-6 6-4 6-2 in her 3rd round in sunny Melbourne. After struggling in the first set and beginning of the 2nd set where she just didn't find her game at a score of 2-6 1-3 she turned the game around and fought back with amazing ground shots and good services. Kuznetsova didn't give up and hit some very hard to get angles, but Sabine responded well and turned her 4th match point to reach the australian open 4th round for her first time.

There world no. 4 Maria Sharapova waits for her, beiing in top form and having lost no more then 5 games until now in the tournament. The match takes place tomorrow in the night session at Rod Laver Arena, the Center Court of the Australian Open, at 7:30 pm local time in Melbourne.

Sabine Lisicki beat Stephanie Voegele 6-2 4-6 6-4 and Shahar Peer 6-1 6-2 in her first two rounds of the Australian Open 2012. In the first round against the swiss number one Voegele it was very windy what caused the ball often not to fly as intended, and made the service game for both players very hard. But Sabine kept fighting and finally won in three sets. Today against Peer, she could play her services as usually, and started with a 3-0 lead. She didn't give the israelian player a chance to adjust to the game but forced her game onto her opponent to finish the match in less then an hour. Sabines next opponent will be either Svetlana Kuznetsova or Sloane Stephens.

She had a good start into the season in Auckland where she reached the Quarterfinals when Sabine had to retire due to a muscle injury. She had to skip Sydney to get fully recovered and is now ready for the first grand slam of the year.
